Dutch Trade Unionists Rally for Crown Workers
THREE DUTCH TRADE UNIONISTS visited Crown workers
back in December. They were part of an exchange program
established between PACE and FNV Bondgenoten, the largest
industrial trade union in the Netherlands. They wanted to
get a firsthand look at labor relations U.S. style. They
couldn't believe what they saw -- hundreds of locked-out
workers having been replaced by non-union scabs. "How
could it be; is this legal," they queried.
These noble trade unionists never forgot what they saw
and experienced. Now they have established a fund for the
locked-out workers. The establishment of the fund was
featured in a recent article in their trade union
publication, FNV Magazine.
PACE and the locked-out families of Local 4-227 express
their profound gratitude to our Dutch brothers and
sisters.
